Hearing Aid Batteries

Hearing aids are portable electronic devices and so work on batteries, such as PowerOne hearing aid batteries, Rayovac hearing aid batteries, Duracell hearing aid batteries or even rechargeable hearing aid batteries; actually, many models are quite complicated electronic devices and so require powerful batteries. Most hearing aid batteries today are zinc air batteries, as opposed to traditional mercury and silver models.

The common zinc air batteries have tabs on them; these tabs are factory applied and they cover air holes in the battery. The battery is called a “zinc air” battery because it is activated when the zinc within the battery is mixed with outside air; the air enters into the battery through the air holes. Keeping the air holes covered with the tab until it is time to use the battery makes sure the battery stays charged and fresh before it’s needed. It is important to not remove the tab until you are ready to use the battery, as you can not “shut it off” by replacing the tab; replacing the tab will not even extend battery life.
